I. About the Journal
The Paulinian Law Journal is the official, student-edited, and peer-reviewed legal journal of the St. Paul School of Professional Studies Faculty of Law. It provides a scholarly forum for the examination of Philippine law, jurisprudence, legal institutions, justice systems, public policy, human rights, legal education, and interdisciplinary issues involving law and society.
The Journal seeks to advance principled legal discourse by publishing original, carefully researched, and socially relevant scholarship from members of the legal profession, judges, legal academics, law students, researchers, public officials, advocates, and scholars from disciplines related to law.
Consistent with the Paulinian commitment to truth, justice, service, ethical leadership, and respect for human dignity, the Journal encourages scholarship that:
- contributes meaningfully to the development and understanding of Philippine law;
- examines the relationship between law and contemporary social realities;
- fairly represents competing legal and policy positions;
- promotes access to justice, human rights, accountability, and the rule of law;
- develops the research and academic writing competencies of law students; and
- creates constructive dialogue among the judiciary, legal profession, academe, government, civil society, and the communities affected by law and public policy.
The Journal may publish regular issues, special issues, thematic collections, online-first articles, and other scholarly materials approved by the Editorial Board. Publication schedules shall be announced through the Journal's official website, social media pages, calls for papers, and institutional communications.
II. Ownership and Management
The Paulinian Law Journal is an institutional publication of the St. Paul School of Professional Studies, operating through its Faculty of Law. The Journal's name, masthead, logo, website, issue design, institutional records, and collective publication are owned or administered by the School, without prejudice to the copyright retained by authors over their individual works.
The Journal is managed by a student Editorial Board headed by the Chairperson or Editor-in-Chief, together with the executive editors, managing editors, article editors, research and citation editors, copy editors, associate editors, and other editorial personnel appointed or selected under the Journal's governing rules.
A Faculty Adviser, Board of Advisers, or designated representatives of the Faculty of Law may provide academic, ethical, and institutional guidance. Their advisory or administrative roles shall not authorize interference with individual publication decisions based on political preference, personal relationship, commercial interest, institutional convenience, or disagreement with an author's conclusions.
The Editorial Board shall exercise editorial independence in evaluating manuscripts. All publication decisions shall be based on scholarly merit, originality, legal significance, methodological soundness, quality of research, ethical compliance, and conformity with the Journal's scope and standards.
Note: An editor, adviser, administrator, or reviewer who has a personal, professional, academic, financial, political, or other material conflict of interest concerning a manuscript must disclose the conflict and recuse from its evaluation.
The Editorial Board remains accountable to the School for responsible administration, financial transparency, compliance with law and institutional policies, protection of confidential records, and faithful observance of the Journal's published editorial standards.
