Divorce: Should It Be Given or Not

There has been much debate on whether divorce should be legalized here in the Philippines. The religious sector strongly opposes it because of the belief that it would destroy the family.But what is divorce? Divorce is the legal dissolution of a marriage by a court or other competent body. Do we have it here in the Philippines? Yes, but it is only limited among Muslims as the Muslim Code governs their family and property relations. The Family Code governs non-Muslim marriages and those of Filipino citizens, wherein only annulment and declaration of nullity of marriage are recognized but not divorce.
